레서판다 푼야는 어슬렁거리며 나무를 타고 내려왔어요. 그리곤 친구와 나눠 먹기 위해 나무에서 열매 두 개를 땄지요. 그런데 아무리 봐도 친구에게 건네준 열매가 더 커 보였어요. 더 큰 열매가 갖고 싶었던 푼야는 친구에게 어떤 행동을 했을까요?
The book Poonya the Red Panda introduces how to build a good friendship. Poonya loves to play with a friend so he decides to pick a fruit to share. It’s very important to share and care your friend. But when Poonya saw his friend’s fruit piece was bigger than his, he pushes away his friend. A true friendship is when you share and don’t compare. It’s also important not to hurt your friend. In the end, Poonya learns the lesson of a true friendship where friends should forgive. Poonya the Red Panda is a life lesson book which teaches children that comparing could lead to hurt feelings and broken friendships. But there is another lesson the book teaches, that forgiveness heals.
Therefore, a loving friendship takes time and effort. The readers may realize the importance of friendship through lovely Poonya.
[Poonya the Red Panda]는 ‘친구와 우정을 쌓으려면 어떻게 해야 할까?’ 에 대한 이야기를 하고 있어요. 친구와 신나게 노는 것을 좋아하는 푼야는 친구와 나누기 위해 열매를 땄지요. 친구와는 나누는 것이 중요해요. 하지만 푼야는 친구와 나눈 열매의 크기를 비교하고 그 중에서 더 큰 열매를 가지고 싶어했어요. 그래서 친구에게 화를 내고 말았어요. 우정을 쌓아 가는 과정에서 나누는 것만큼 중요한 것은 비교하지 않는 것이에요. 친구를 다치게 하는 것도 조심해야 하는 것이지요. 푼야는 결국 친구와의 우정을 회복했어요. 바로 친구의 용서를 통해 말이지요. 용서는 다친 감정을 치유하는 힘이 있어요.
이렇게 우정을 쌓는 것은 서로의 노력이 필요해요. 사랑스러운 레서판다 푼야를 통해 우정의 소중함을 깨달을 수 있어요.

Poonya the Red Panda introduces the common children’s friendship. The social and emotional development are shown through the main characters.
In the beginning of the book, Poonya picked fruits to share with a friend. But when he realized that his friend’s fruit piece was bigger, he got mad. Poonya knew pushing a friend could hurt a friend but he couldn’t handle his feelings.
Now, Poonya wasn’t happy anymore. He was just sad and lonely. At that moment, Poonya’s friend approached and shared the big fruit piece with Poonya. A true friendship requires to share, care, not to compare and forgive.
When a child realizes that playing with a friend is much fun than being alone, they develop their social needs and wants through a mutual exchange. If a child plays alone, they don’t need to share or give anything. They don’t even have to compare because there is no one to compare to.
The first step to develop a social skill outside of one’s family is through a friendship. Through sharing their belongings, they learn positive friendship skills which strongly help children socially and emotionally, just like Poonya.

친구의 열매와 비교를 한 푼야는 화가 났지요. 푼야는 화를 내는 것이 친구를 다치게 할 수도 있기 때문에 나쁜 것이란 것을 알았지만 참지 못하고 화를 내고 말았어요.
이제 푼야는 더 이상 즐겁지 않았어요
