동명대학교 물류경영학과 교수이자 대학부설연구소인 항만물류산업연구소 소장으로 한국해양대학교 항해학과를 졸업한 후 동 대학원에서 해운경영학 석사 및 박사학위를 받았으며, 한국과학기술연구원에서 선임연구원으로 9년간 근무하는 동안 PORT-MIS 개발 및 소프트웨어공학연구에 참여하였다.
저자의 연구 및 출판물은 주로 물류시스템에 관한 것으로 특히 항만물류영역에서의 정보기술 응용과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 그의 논문은 한국항해항만학회, 한국해양정보통신학회 및 MPM 등에 다수 게재되었다. 특히 게임이론, 시뮬레이션, 최적화기법, SCM 및 물류관리, 정보시스템설계론 등을 항만 물류 도메인에 적용하고자 하는 것이 그 내용이다. 2006년에는 국토해양부의 시뮬레이션 기법을 활용하여 컨테이너 터미널의 적정 하역능력 산정연구를 수행한 바 있으며, 2008년에는 부산항만공사의 환적물량증대를 위한 인센티브제도 개편연구를 완수하였으며, 2009년에는 울산항의 M10 묘박지 안정성 평가 연구를 수행한 바 있다. 2008년도부터 지식경제부의 R&D 연구로 RFID 센스태그를 활용한 컨테이너 상태 추적 시스템 개발에 착수하고 있다.

Professor Park Nam kyu is not only the professor of the department of international logistics in Tongmyong university but also the chief of Institute of port logistics industry in Tongmyong university. He graduated from the department of navigation in Korea Maritime University. Acquired Bachelor Degree in Engineering, MBA in Shipping & Logistics Management and Ph D. in Shipping & Logistics Management in Korea Maritime University.
He worked at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology as Senior Researcher for 9 years developing PORT-MIS. He was visiting professor in Shanghai Maritime University.
His research and publication mainly have relationship to the management of port logistics as well as specially the area of the technology of information.
A lot of theses of his were published in Journal of Korean Navigation and Port Research, with thesis, A Study on Optimized Size of a Mobile Habor for South Korea Coastal Service, 2011 and The Asian Journal of Shipping and Logistics with thesis, A study on model of regional logistics requirements prediction, 2011 and Journal of Mechanical Engineering [SCI], with theis, Mathematical models of multi∼server queuing system for dynamic performance evaluation in port, 2011 and Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering [SCI] with theis, Sensitivity Analysis for Identifying the Critical Productivity, 2013 etc... He is main author of this book.
